A library committee is a group of individuals who are responsible for the governance of a library, including policy-making, resource allocation, and oversight of library operations.” (American Library Association, Glossary of Library and Information Science). It is a “general policy making body for the library. Library Committee renders advice concerning all Library matters.
The purpose of the Library Committee is to act as a channel of communication between the Library and its users and in the establishment of a bridge between the Library and the academic fraternity and the institute management.This committee is giving in the recommendation of matters regarding the purchase of books, equipment, developments in infrastructure, maintenance. The Library Committee is to support the functioning of the library so that it can facilitate the library development plans by advocating the library development activities with the management.
