Abstract
Health and Family Welfare Department – Medical Education – Admission
to B.Sc (N) course under NRI quota – guidelines revised – orders issued.

ORDER
Norms for admission to B.Sc (N) course under NRI quota are stipulated
in government orders read as 1st to 3rd papers above. As per the terms
stipulated in G.O read as 1st paper above, following documents are to
produced for claiming reservation under NRI quota:
A ) Embassy/Consulate attested copies of the sponsor’s passport and visa/
Green Card/Overseas Citizenship Card (sponsor’s employment should be
specified in either of these documents so produced by the candidate)
B) If the sponsor’s employment is not recorded in any of the documents
mentioned in ‘A’ above, candidate should produce the sponsor’s employment
certificate attested by the embassy/consulate.
2. Various corners have urged the government to simplify the norms for
claiming admission under NRI quota as it is difficult to
get Embassy/Consulate attestation in certain countries. In this regard, a
meeting of the officials from NORKA, LBS, SIMET, CAPS etc. have been
convened by the Director of Medical Education on 09.06.2025. In the
meeting, it was decided to recommend the submission of NORKA attested

documents in case Embassy/Consulate attested documents are not available.
3. Government have examined the matter in detail and are pleased to revise
the existing guidelines for submission of documents for claiming admission
to B.Sc (N) course under NRI quota, provided in A & B above, as follows:
i) Candidates shall produce copies of the sponsor’s passport and visa/ Green
Card/Overseas Citizenship Card attested by Embassy/Consulate. In the
absence of the aforesaid documents attested by Embassy/Consulate,
sponsor’s passport and visa/Green Card/Overseas Citizenship Card attested
by NORKA-ROOTS shall be produced, provided the candidate shall furnish
a statement from the sponsor in time, explaining the reason for not getting
the documents attested by the respective Embassy/Consulate.
ii) If the sponsor’s employment is not stated in the sponsor’s Passport/
Visa/Green Card/Overseas Citizenship Card, sponsor’s Employment
Certificate attested by the Embassy/Consulate shall be produced. In the
absence of the sponsor’s Employment Certificate certified by the
Embassy/Consulate, Employment Certificate attested by NORKA-ROOTS
shall be produced, provided the candidate shall furnish a statement from the
sponsor in time, explaining the reason for not getting the Employment
Certificate attested by the respective Embassy/Consulate.
